Halide perovskites are materials of the formula ABX3 with X a halogen such as I, Br, Cl, B a divalent cation such as Sn, Pb and A a monovalent cation such as Cs or an organic ion such methylammonium (CH3NH3). These materials are currently under active study as solar cell materials. They are excellent absorbers, as well as electron and hole conductors and easy to deposit out of solution. We study their electronic band structure, exciton binding energy, phonons, and their relation to phase transitions, Raman spectra, etc.
